The Mountain Parkway consists of a Byway and a Backway, including four spurs, in Northern Webster County. Designation as a scenic Byway and Backway by the West Virginia Department of Transportation was granted on August 2, 1999.
The Byway is a 10.4-mile section of West Virginia State Route 20, extending from the foot of Hodam Mountain, at the junction of Hodam Creek Road (Webster County Route 20/8) to the Upshur/Webster County line, just north of Cleveland.
The Backway follows Webster County (WC) Route 3, a bit north of the former Hacker Valley Post Office to WC Route 1/1, and then proceeds to WC Route 1; from there it goes along WV Route 1 to its juncture with WV State Route 20 about one mile south of Cleveland.
The four spurs include:
1. WC Route 20/2, an historic route, from Cleveland to Jerry Run
2. WC Route 3/8 from Pugh to Spicer’s Orchard
3. WC Route 8 from the Hanging Rocks to the Mollohan Mill
4. WC Route 6 from the Boggs Mill Stone to the Johnson Home
The total distance of the Mountain Parkway, including spurs, is approximately 35 miles.
